BOYS TEAM NEWS DJ Down Under At the Canberra Cup in Australia DJ finished 2nd All Around and made event finals on all 6 events. He finished 2nd on rings and pbars. Top junior gymnasts from the China, USA, Great Britain, Australia, Canada and other countries were competing. Nate Downs National Merit Semi-finalist Congratulations to Nathan Downs for being named a National Merit Semi-finalist DJ and Aaron Both National Champs DJ Bucher won the Junior Elite 1 All Around title at the USA Championships. He qualified to Jr National Team (missed Sr. Team by .1) and also gets to compete in Japan in September. DJ's Interview Aaron finished 2nd All Around in the Junior Elite 2 division becoming National Champion on High Bar. Aaron also qualified to the Jr. National Team. Results DJ Bucher Qualifies to Compete Sr. Elite DJ Bucher competed at USA Qualifier finished 7th All Around and qualified to compete Sr. Elite at the USA Championships. DJ is the only Jr. gymnast to qualify to USA's through this meet. Results 2001 Nationals Queen City had another great showing. DJ Bucher was 2nd All Around in the Junior Elite 1 division as well as finishing 2nd on P. Bars and 3rd on Rings. Aaron Rakes also qualified to USA Championships by finishing 6th All Around in the Junior Elite 2 Division. Aaron also finished 4th on floor, 2nd Vault, 3rd P.Bars and 3rd High Bar Four other QCG gymnasts made All Around finals: Nate Downs (30th AA, 7th H.Bar), Andy Sauber (26th), Sam Moon (33th) and Julian Whittle (34th). Results Academic All Americans In order to be named Academic All American a high school gymnast must have 3.5+ GPA. The following QCG Boy's achieved that: Nate Downs, Robert May, Alex Schutte, Aaron Rakes, David Ortiz and Sam Moon Regionals Queen City has the top two gymnasts in the region as DJ Bucher (JE1) and Aaron Rakes (JE2) win the all around at the top two levels. Nathan Downs(JE 1) finished 5th in the All Around to also qualify onto the Region 5 Team. Those 3 boys along with Robert May (JE1), John Harrison (JE2), Alex Schutte (JE2), Brad Heater (Class 3), Sam Moon (Class 3), Julian Whittle (Class 3), Andy Sauber (Class 3), Matt Vultaggio (Class 3) and Clayton Bright (Class 3) all qualify to compete at Jr. Nationals in Minneapolis. Results. 2001 Sr Elite Wintercup DJ Bucher and Aaron Rakes competed in Las Vegas with the 70 best gymnasts in the country. DJ Bucher finished 14th All Around, with Blaine Wilson winning the meet. Results Winterfest Congrats to the Booster club for running a successful competition. Over 400 gymnasts in 4 double sessions all run on time! It was a great a meet with gymnasts from Ohio, Michigan, Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas and California competing. Great job by the QCG boys also with the Junior Elites and Class 3's winning the team competition and the Class 5's having a 3rd place finish. Results : Photos. GTCO Invite Congrats to the Class 5's for winning the team title in the GTCO Invite. Brian Arand won the 10-11 age group. Results Whitfield Invitational The optional boys had a good showing. Aaron Rakes won every event in Class 2. DJ Bucher and Nate Downs finished 1-2 in the AA in Junior Elite 1, and Brad Heater (class 3) and Kevin Germain (class 4) finished 3rd AA. Results Hyde Park Invite Class 6's finished 3rd as a team with Alex Hoersten winning the 7&under all around title. Results. Windy City Invitational The optional boys competed in Chicago and had a rough first meet but still came away with some good results. Highlights included top 3 All Around placing by DJ Bucher (JE1) Aaron Rakes (JE2) and Brad Heater (Class 3). Results. 2001 Camp Information on the Boys Summer Camp is available. DJ Bucher Competes for USA DJ Bucher won 2 gold (Team, Rings) and 2 bronze (All Around, Pbars) medals at the Jr Pan Americans in Brazil on November 24th.
