Future Wolverine and Buckeye
Aaron Rakes has accepted an athletic scholarship to the University of Michigan. DJ Bucher accepted a scholarship to Ohio State University. Aaron will be enrolling in the fall of 2003 and DJ will begin college in the fall of 2004.. Congratulations Aaron and DJ!

Future Stars
Taylor Nelson (pictured) competed in the 10-11 Regional Future Stars and finished 5th AA. He has qualified on to Nationals in Colorado Springs and hopes to qualify to the Future Stars National Team.
Conner Hundley (7th AA) and Alex Hoersten (2nd AA) competed in the 8-9 yr old division. Great job guys!

DJ and Keith Honored by USAG
DJ Bucher was one of 4 gymnasts selected to try out for World Championships on Parallel Bars. Two gymnasts will be selected to compete parallel bars for the USA. Keith Pettit was named the National Delevlopmental Coach of the Year for USAG. Article

DJ Becomes Sr National Team Member
DJ Bucher placed 9th at the USA Championships and becomes Queen City's first Male Sr. National Team Member.
Aaron Rakes finished 10th and 2nd on Vault in the Jr Elite 1 Division

DJ and Aaron to compete at USA Championships
DJ Bucher qualified to compete at the USA Championships in the Senior Division. Only 3 Jr. gymnasts qualified for the Sr. Division. Aaron Rakes will be competing in the Jr. Division.

Alex Barrenechea Visits
2000 Olympian and European Floor Finalist, Alex Barrenechea, visited Queen City for 3 weeks again this summer.

Jr Pan Pacific Alliance
DJ Bucher competed against top Jrs from Japan, USA, Australia, Korea, Canada and other countries and helped lead the team to 1st place. DJ placed 1st on Pbars, 2nd Rings, 2nd Vault and 4th All Around.

2002 Nationals
The boys competed well at Nationals. Nate Downs (class 1), Sam Moon and Andy Sauber (class 2) and Julian Whittle (class 3) all advanced to all around finals.

2002 Regionals
QCG had a great showing with 4 gymnasts on regional team. Class 1 Nate Downs finished 4th AA
Class 2 gymnasts Andy Sauber 3rd AA and Sam Moon 7th AA
Class 3 gymnast Julian Whittle finished 3rd AA
Kevin Germaine, John Lane, Alex Schutte, John Harrison and David Ortiz will also being going to Nationals
Class 4 gymnast, Taylor Nelson, also had a great showing placing 7th AA

DJ Bucher Selected to Compete for USA
DJ was one of 3 Junior Gymnasts to compete at the 2002 Pan-Pacific Alliance Championships in May in Vancouver BC. He will be competing against the top gymnasts from Japan, China, Canada, Korea as well as others. This is DJ's 3rd international assignment in the past 6 months


Graduates at NCAA's
Former QCG gymnast Marshall Erwin won Rings at the NCAA Championships. He also helped Stanford advance to the Team Finals (6th). Matt Metzger (pictured) competed for Iowa. Iowa also made team finals finishing 5th.

Team USA vs Canada
DJ Bucher competed for the United States against the senior team from Canada at the Jurassic Cup in Calgary. Team USA won and DJ placed third on parallel bars.

Hocking Valley 2002
Boys had a good meet. Sam Moon won class 2 All Around. Class 2's won team and Class 6's were 2nd

2002 Arnold Classic
The boys had a great meet in Columbus. In Class 1 Nate Downs won highbar and All Around and John Harrison (pictured) won pbars. Class 2's won team with Andy Sauber winning high bar and Sam Moon winning Pbars and Rings.
Class 6 gymnast Conner Hundley and Alex Hoersten finished 1,2 on pbars and Conner also won highbar.

DJ To Compete Internationally
DJ Bucher has been selected to compete in a Sr. dual meet with Canada in March, this is the first time DJ has been selected to compete internationally as a Senior gymnast. He was also chosen to compete in the Jr Pan Pacific Aliance meet in Vancouver in May. In that meet the best juniors from USA, Canada, Japan, and China will be competing.

2002 Wintercup
DJ Bucher and former Qcity Gymnast Marshall Erwin competed against the best in the country at the 2002 Wintercup, including World Champion Team Members. DJ Bucher finished 5th AA and won Parallel Bars and Marshall Erwin tied for 1st on Rings

Winterfest
Results of the Winterfest are now posted. Congrats to the Boosters for running a great meet.

Hyde Park Invite
The class 5's won the Hyde Park Invitational and the Class 6's finished 3rd.

Whitfield Invite
Optional boys had a great showing in Michigan. Class 1's, and 2's won the team title. DJ and Aaron finished 1,2 in class 1. Sam Moon and Andy Sauber finished 2nd, 3rd in class 2. Julian Whittle (class 3) and Taylor Nelson (class 4) both won the all around.

The Boys in the Windy City
The boys had a great showing in Chicago. The Class 1's and 2's both won the team competition. The class 4's came in 6th place.

DJ Down Under
At the Canberra Cup in Australia DJ finished 2nd All Around and made event finals on all 6 events. He finished 2nd on rings and pbars. Top junior gymnasts from the China, USA, Great Britain, Australia, Canada and other countries were competing.

Nate Downs National Merit Semi-finalist
Congratulations to Nathan Downs for being named a National Merit Semi-finalist

DJ and Aaron Both National Champs
DJ Bucher won the Junior Elite 1 All Around title at the USA Championships. He qualified to Jr National Team (missed Sr. Team by .1) and also gets to compete in Japan in September.
DJ's Interview

Aaron finished 2nd All Around in the Junior Elite 2 division becoming National Champion on High Bar. Aaron also qualified to the Jr. National Team. Results
