2004-2005 BOYS TEAM NEWS Season Concludes The boys did well at Nationals. Julian Whittle, John Maurer, and Taylor Nelson all qualified to the 2nd day of competition. Kevin Germain, Joel Uptmor and Matt Petruso were named Academic All Americans Pictures Great Regionals for Boys Queen City had another great showing at Regionals. Level 6 Kyle Baker was regional Champion, Kevin Baker finished 2nd all around. Nine QCG Boys made Nationals! Level 10's John Maurer (16-18) and Julian Whittle (14-15) both made regional team. John came in 3rd AA and Julian came in 7th. Other gymnasts that made nationals - Matt Vultaggio, Kevin Germain, Joel Uptmore, Matt Petruso, Taylor Nelson, Conor Hundley and Pierce Harger Over 20 State Champs! Results Ranking System A neat very unofficial ranking of gymnasts in region - based on high score. It is unofficial but interesting nonetheless. Black Jack National Competition The BlackJack Competition featured over 1000 of the top gymnasts in the country including many former and present National Team Members. Julian Whittle had a great meet placing 4th AA, 2nd Rings and 2nd Vault. Matt Vultaggio (level 10) Also finished 11th AA. Thanks again, especially Judy Alvarado for running a great meet. Congrats to the level 9&10s for winning the team title. Level 6's were 2nd and level 5's were 3rd. All Around winners - John Maurer (Level 10), Kyle Baker (level 6) and Kevin Baker(level 6). Results QCG Cleans up at GTCO The level 5's came in second place and the level 6's won the team competition. Congrats! Kevin Baker and Kyle Baker both won the Level 6 All Around. Intersquad The intersquad was a great success. Marty's team won! Congrats! Scholarship Athlete! John Maurer signed his letter of intent for a full athletic scholarship to Penn State University. Jeff comes comes from Virginia where he coached at Gymstrada Winterfest Scheduled 2005 Winterfest will be January 29-30 John Maurer Competes at USA Championships Congrats to new QCG gymnast John Maurer who competed at the 2004 USA Championships in the Jr. Division Boys at Nationals The boy's had another successful Nationals. Johnny Harrison finished 3rd on vault in Junior Elite 1. Johnny, David Ortiz, Andy Sauber, Taylor Nelson and Julian Whittle all qualified two the 2nd day of competition.
