1999 BOYS TEAM NEWS 1999 Nationals Queen City qualifed two gymnasts to USA Championships. JE 2 gymnast DJ Bucher placed 5th all around and Matt Metzger placed 11th in the JE 1 competition. Aaron Rakes made the Jr. National Team by placing 12th in the class 3 competition. Queen City has now had a National Team Member 8 Times since 1990. John Bliesener 1990, Michael Morgan 1993-1995 (94 and 95 National Champ), Matt Metzger 1996, DJ Bucher 1997 & 1998, and Aaron Rakes 1999. Also QCG has 4 All Americans- Marshall Erwin placed 2nd on rings, Matt Metzger placed 5th on rings and 11th AA, DJ Bucher places 3rd on Pbars and 5th AA, and Aaron Rakes places 5th on vault and 12th AA. Junior Elite 1's -Matt Metzger ,Marshall Erwin Junior Elite 2 - DJ Bucher(1st AA) and Class 3's - Aaron Rakes and John Harrison . Also one other gymnast Class 2, Nathan Downs, qualified to Nationals. Queen City also won the Regional Team Title in Junior Elite 1, Class 3 and Class 4. 1999 State Meet Our Boys had a great State Meet. Congratulations to our 26 State Champions: Junior Elite 1 & 2 Combined Team Class 3 (12-14) Team Class 3 Overall Team Marshall Erwin, Junior Elite 1 - Rings DJ Bucher, Junior Elite 2 - Floor, Pommels, P.Bars, H.Bar, All Around Aaron Rakes, Class 3 (12-13) - Rings, Vault, P.Bars, H.Bar, All Around John Harrison, Class 3 (12-13) - Floor Patrick Brennan, Class 3(14+) - Pommels, P.Bars, All Around Julian Whittle, Class 4 (10-11) - Vault Luke Spencer, Class 6 (7-8) - Floor, Rings, Vault, P.Bars, H.Bar, All Around Brandon Williams, Class 6 (7-8) - Vault Oympic Visit Rustam Sharopov, two time Olympic Gold Medalist, visited Queen City for a few days.
